City and business leaders will gather at the World Bank in Washington, DC for a global forum on the growing potential for sustainable urban mobility in the developing world. The 11th annualTransforming Transportationevent is co-organized by theWorld Bankembarq, the sustainable urban transport program of the必威官网手机版, onThursday and Friday January 16-17, 2014, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Long term mobility patterns and greenhouse gas emissions are determined by today’s choices. Developing countries, which still face a large infrastructure gap, have the opportunity to leap-frog car-dependent transport and adopt multimodal strategies that reduce pollution, energy consumption, traffic fatalities and congestion, while fostering economic development and improving well-being.
