Decentralized electricity options such as mini-grids can play a complementary role in bringing electricity services to those without access. Tanzania has taken the lead in creating policy and regulatory environments to promote the deployment of mini-grids. But a lot more remains to be done if we are to realizeSustainable Development Goal 7of modern energy for all.

A one-day workshop organized by WRI and theTanzania Traditional Energy Development Organization(TaTEDO) gathered stakeholders to discuss options for accelerating off-grid electrification solutions in Tanzania. The workshop focused on exploring resources that government, development finance institutions, entrepreneurs and civil society stakeholders can draw on to implement off-grid solutions.

WRI and TaTEDO launched a new report,加速在撒哈拉以南非洲的迷你招募部署：坦桑尼亚的教训，并让利益相关者参与有关调查结果的讨论。WRI也将启动Tanzania Energy Access Maps, an interactive web-based tool with data on unserved electricity markets.
